Fountains and Springs

Created by God.

Psalms 104:10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
God to be praised for.

Revelation 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Come from the great deep.

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Job 38:16 Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
Found in hills and valleys.

Deuteronomy 8:7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

Psalms 104:10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
Send forth each but one kind of water.

James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

AFFORD

Drink to the beasts.

Psalms 104:11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.

Refreshment to the birds.

Psalms 104:12 By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.

Fruitfulness to the earth.

1 Kings 18:5 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

Joel 3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

Frequented by travellers.

Genesis 16:7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
Abound in Canaan.

Deuteronomy 8:7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

1 Kings 18:5 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
Sometimes dried up.

Isaiah 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Drying up of, a severe punishment.

Psalms 107:33-34 He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

CONSTANTLY FLOWING

Especially esteemed.

11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.

The Fountains Of The Great Deep
Religie | Daily Thought | 31 Augustus 2010 | 15:41:19

The Fountains Of The Great Deep
@by Wayne Blank

A fountain is a natural source of flowing water from underground. It's interesting to note that The Flood in the time of Noah wasn't just caused by rainfall alone as is so often portrayed, but also by vast amounts of underground water that was brought to the surface i.e. "the waters of the flood were upon the earth ... the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened." (Genesis 7:10-11 KJV).

A present-day example of "fountains of the great deep" in existence is the Ogallala Aquifer in North America which covers approximately 175,000 underground square miles from South Dakota to Texas - the water depth reaches over 1,000 feet in places.
Fountains, Physical and Spiritual

The Promised land was blessed with good water:

"Therefore thou shalt keep the Commandments [see The Decalogue] of The Lord thy God, to walk in His ways, and to fear Him. For The Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley [see Corn], and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass." (Deuteronomy 8:7-9 KJV)

The time of transition after The Return Of Jesus Christ will see both physical and spiritual fountains:

"The Lord also shall roar out of Zion [see Who, What or Where Is Zion?], and utter His voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but The Lord will be the hope of His people, and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I am The Lord your God dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of The Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim." (Joel 3:16-18 KJV)

"I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water [see Living Waters]. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together: That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of The Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it." (Isaiah 41:18-20 KJV)

Fountains are also an analogy for the Holy Spirit:

"For with Thee is the fountain of life: in Thy light shall we see light." (Psalm 36:9 KJV)

"For the Lamb which is in the midst of the Throne [see The Throne Of God, From Heaven To Earth] shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." (Revelation 7:17 KJV)

"And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely." (Revelation 21:6 KJV)

Fact Finder: Did Jesus Christ say that "whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst"?
John 4:13-14
